It is a rare condition that happens to 1 in 80,000 women. A similar thing happened to Liz Logelin whose husband writes the Matt, Liz & Madeline blog.

Here is how it is defined by WebMD
http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/253068-overview

In Melanie's case, she was found to be hypotensive. At which point, she was taken to Intensive Care. It was in ICU that she suffered heart failure due to the embolism. The medical staff spent 1.5 hours trying to revive her. We met many of the staff that was on call at the funeral. They seemed to be more heart-broken than us.Anne K. in L.A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11894531107425074517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17169921.post-39959286519453164622009-04-30T12:01:00.000-07:002009-04-30T12:01:00.000-07:00Hey Anne, this is Choosie :) Thanks for posting th...Hey Anne, this is Choosie :) Thanks for posting this... it pretty much captures what everyone felt about the funeral and the generosity of the people of Florence.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17169921.post-63376452885764665442009-04-30T09:38:00.000-07:002009-04-30T09:38:00.000-07:00this is a very hopeful and moving story. i'm reall...this is a very hopeful and moving story. i'm really sorry for your loss.honey my hearthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02060858692790978041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17169921.post-88952029240861216152009-04-30T08:40:00.000-07:002009-04-30T08:40:00.000-07:00Do you mind answering medically (as best you know)...Do you mind answering medically (as best you know) what happened?rebekahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17999264774530749624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17169921.post-5734838600683263372009-04-30T08:11:00.000-07:002009-04-30T08:11:00.000-07:00Hi Anne,

It can be very tricky in the dark.

It is nice to know that the fellow Oregonians have shown such warm hospitality and support for your family under such a sad situation. I am sure your cousin touched many lives and the patients will always appreciate her effort.

I am sure she will rest in peace knowing how well her family is taken care of.

Take care Anne,
LeeAnnLeeAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13962020422220662843noreply@blogger.com
