Cicely has been my closest friend and confidante since we were both starving waitresses working our way through college. For a time, we were roommates. Although we haven't lived in the same timezone in over 6 years, we still talk everyday. When we get together, it's a nonstop gabfest and tomfoolery with photographic evidence. This weekend was no exception. Even though we are married women in our 30s, we still behave like giggly teenagers. I guess you could say we keep each other young... and sane. Here is some photographic evidence of our ridiculousness.

A break from the norm

I am taking a break from my regularly scheduled activites to visit my best friend Cicely in Houston. Why you ask? First reason, Cicely is my BFF. She is an awesome BFF because she got tickets for us to see Kanye West! I flew in to Houston this morning specifically for this show. The show is in Bush Territory at the Woodlands in North Houston. So, I am very curious to see if he's really going to let loose and say something really glib. I am a huge fan of Kanye, but according to Cicely I am not a true believer. This is based on the fact that I didn't not practice any of the dances from any of his videos. It makes no difference that I own every album and single of his. In my defense, I know what my strengths and weaknesses are. Dancing is certainly NOT one of my strengths. I have choosen not to play myself. No matter. I'm sure I'll have a good time... even if I don't drink the Kool-aid.

A litlle dose of sunshine

Here's a sneak peak at what I've been up to this weekend. A trip to the flower mart yielded this.
I love yellow it is one of my favorite colors. It reminds me of my childhood. Yellow is one of my mother's favorite colors as well. There is more to tell about these flowers. For now, just enjoy their sunshiny goodness.

Home again , home again

I'm off for a trip to Virginia. I'm overdue for a visit with my family. I'll be back in a few days.

Art inspires me

This is a post I didn't get to finish because of my hectic work week. I originally started it on Monday 02/11. Fair warning, this post has a lot of photos.
I am constantly in search of inspiration. Because of my hectic schedule, I fuel my ideas via blogs and websites. This past Saturday I decided to step away from the computer screen and immerse myself in some art. It was the closing weekend of Takashi Murakami Exhibit at the MOCA - Geffen. I was surprised to find a long line of people waiting to buy tickets to get into the museum. I thought "Wow! People are really into art here in L.A." Then, I remembered that Murakami is well-known for these:

... and my bubble was burst. There was an inordinate amount of people who were there to be seen or say they had been there. Despite that, the show was phenomenal. Murakami's work exuded a well-executed balance of whimsy with a thought-provoking undertone. The colors were both eye-catching and unbelievably vibrant. The installations pieces were the most captivating. Two of the major pieces encompassed entire rooms. As a fan of anime, I also enjoyed the fusion of anime with high art.
